12 Days of Christmas Nails: Day 1

It's December! My countdown to Christmas has officially started and I'll be documenting it on my nails (of course!). It's my plan to post 12 Holiday themed manicures before Santa pays a visit . Apologies in advance if I don't manage to post 12 but I'll try my best!

I used A-England Galahad* as a base and sponged on Barry M Blue Glitter from the tips. I stamped the snowflake from Bundle Monster plate BM14 and finished it with a rhinestone and a top coat of NYC.

A-England Mythicals Review (Elaine, Galahad, Lancelot, Tristam)

About A-England
A-England is an indie nail polish brand created by a lovely lady called Adina Bodana and based in London, England. The concept behind the brand is great - beautiful, quality polishes to 'crown your hands and feet'.

The Mythicals collection is a range of regal colours with majestic names taken from the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (wiki). I love this touch, it really gives a whole new level of authenticity to the brand and truly shows the love that's been poured in to creating the collection.

Swatches clockwise from top left: Elaine*, Galahad*, Lancelot*, Tristam*.

Elaine
Swatches here
Elaine is the ultimate Royal Purple. Application is flawless in two coats and it's so shiny, even without a top coat! Elaine and Galahad have very similar formulas - they're so creamy which makes them very easy to apply.

Galahad
Swatches here
Turquoise is my absolute favourite colour to wear on my nails and Galahad fits the bill perfectly. Again, it's a two coater - the formula is creamy and applies like a dream.

Lancelot
Swatches here
You can just about tell from the swatches that Lancelot is a red tinged black shade. Super vampy and a heart-breaker, just like it's namesake. My only qual with this shade is that it chips much quicker than the others - after about 2 days tip wear was quite visible. It's still a reasonably long lasting polish but the other shades lasted longer before they started chipping on the tips.

Tristam
Swatches here
Aaah Tristam. This is truly a beautiful polish. In shade or under artificial light, it's a pretty, glass flecked Indigo shade but in sunlight, the holographic effect is revealed and it sparkles every colour of the rainbow. This is going to be gracing my toes a lot in the summer months!

Day 30: Inspired by a Tutorial

Here we are at the penultimate day of the challenge and I'm getting a little emotional. This amazing journey will soon be over for Me, Chris and Rie so I'm gonna go out with a bang and give you the most awesome manis I can for the next two days!

Today I had to pick a tutorial to inspire my nails and I've always wanted to try out some of Jane @ Nailside's amazing designs. Jane comes up with the most amazing uses for scotch tape and her nails always look incredible.

I really wanted to try recreating her explosion design but I'm not very good with scotch tape so that went belly up very quickly and I decided to try her cartoon hearts. Swoon.

Follow me over to Cristina and Rie's tutorial inspired nails today.

My base colour is A-England Elaine. I used whit acrylic paint and Nails Inc. Shoreditch for the hearts, then topped it off with a few coats of NYC Top Coat.

I won't give you any details of how I achieved this look, you'll have to head over to see the tutorial at Nailside [here] and you can check out all of Jane's simple but stunning tutorials here.

For 'Day 31: Recreate Your Favourite Challenge' we've decided to pick our favourite challenges from each other so check back tomorrow for a double feature!

Day 24: Inspired by a Book

Can you believe there are only seven days left of this challenge?! I really can't!
So, for nails inspired by a book I decided to go for a children's book - The Rainbow Fish. I did consider a few adult books that I've read recently but this seemed way more fun!

I can't wait to see Rie and Cris's book inspired nails today!
